Create a Self Portrait Each week, Advanced 2D Art students must complete a weekly journal prompt in their Visual Journals. Last week's prompt was to create a self portrait. Check out what they came up with! By Monica Click the images in the gallery to get a closer look. I love how so many of them took a different approach! Awesome work, Advanced 2D Art!

This piece by Katie really blew me away! No pun intended. By Katie
The students started with a sketch in their Visual Journals and then started their final piece on watercolor paper. For an extra challenge, the students had the option to add the six tertiary colors as well. I think they're pretty amazing and I hope you do too! A beautiful Visual Journal title page by Paige, 7th grade At the beginning of each semester, my new students begin their journey through art. Throughout my class, they keep a Visual Journal, where they take notes, respond to writing and drawing prompts and do sketches and jot down ideas for projects. These journals are a working piece of art, which starts with their title page. Check out some examples from my 2D and Advanced 2D art classes!
